5 (Sweet) Spanish Valentine’s Day Books

It’s no surprise that Valentine’s Day books are some of the sweetest and most heartwarming books you’ll read all year. So much so, in fact, that I was excited to research (aka read) the best Spanish Valentine’s Day books I could find—and the titles below don’t disappoint!

This list is great for Spanish teachers, bilingual families, and kids of all ages and levels of Spanish. There are so many great Valentine’s Day booklists out there, but I limited mine to books originally published in Spanish or those with Hispanic authors or illustrators. Note that the following list contains affiliate links.

5 (Sweet) Spanish Valentine’s Day Books

Spanish Valentine's Day Books

May these Spanish Valentine’s Day books be just what you need this February to get you and your kids talking about love (in all its forms).

#1 Besos for Baby

by Jen Arena, illustrated by Blanca Gómez

Besos for Baby is a sweet bilingual read! It’s mostly in English with one Spanish phrase repeated throughout, but I think it adds to the simplicity and charm of the book.

Anyone, whether they know Spanish or not, can join in on Besos for Baby. Kids will especially get a kick out of all the besos that baby receives.

Includes vocabulary cards at the end of the book, which makes it great for introducing basic Spanish words. Besos for Baby is best for younger children.

#2 ¿De qué color es un beso?

by Rocio Bonilla

Minimoni loves to draw the world around her. But how do you draw a kiss? And what color is it? This is an adorable story and kids will love watching Minimoni puzzle over which color best represents a kiss.

¿De qué color es un beso? makes for a fantastic review of color vocabulary. Plus, kids can show their creative side by explaining (or drawing) the answer themselves.

#3 ¿Qué es el amor?

by Davide Cali and Anna Laura Cantone

A young girl, restless to see love, asks her family what love is. But the answers she gets vary from person to person. If love is such a beautiful thing, then why is it so hard to define?

This sweet story is an excellent conversation starter about how love means different things to different people.

#4 Te quiero (casi siempre)

by Anna Llenas

Opposites attract in Te quiero (casi siempre). Best friends Lolo and Rita are very different. They love each other, but every once in a while they get on each other’s nerves. The trick to their lasting friendship? Knowing how to put their differences aside.

This is a cute story that goes to the heart of friendships—it’s not always smooth sailing, but there’s always a way to make up. This is a great title for older elementary students and I particularly love how it focuses on the reality that friendships aren’t always perfect.

#5 El amor es cosa de monstruos

By Xavier Gallego Moya

El amor es cosa de monstruos is a riotously fun book. The vibrant illustrations and humorous take on love (and monsters) will make anyone feel like a (sweet) little monster.

The book includes interactive questions and quizzes, so it’s best used with older elementary students who have a decent level of Spanish.
